A DAY IN THE LIFE OF ETHEL

A typical day in my life begins at 10am, I don't do getting up early. I start the day with a wash and a look out of the window to see what the weather is like (and to see if Leo's about). If the doors open I usually take a stroll and visit Leo. Sometimes my Dad is gardening or doing some DIY, if he is I have to keep an eye on him. He likes to think he knows what he's doing but he usually needs my help. I'm an expert at DIY but I like to be a foreman on the job rather than have get my paws dirty.

By about 2pm it's time for my afternoon nap. I either go back to bed or sleep in the conservatory. Sometimes I sleep all afternoon, but if my Dads busy DIYing I have to get up and check on him every so often otherwise it will all go wrong.

In the evening I like to go for a stroll again. I often have to play hide and seek with Tink. Tink plays with Minnie most of the time but in the garden I take over because Minnies usually climbed high up in the trees to watch the magpies. Me and Tink can't climb that high, I tried once but Dad had to bring the ladders to get me down. Sometimes I take my Mum and Dad for a walk. I've got my Mum trained not to walk near main roads but Dad still tends to wander off and we have to wait for him to come back.

Later on at night I usually go bed with Mum and we watch TV in bed. Sometimes if I'm not too tired I like to wind Dad up by staying out late. He comes out waving treats, as if I'm going to fall for that! I sit on the shed roof where he can't reach me or sit in the doorway and run away when he tries to pick me up.
